Phil Schumacher
Biography
Phil joined the National Weather Service in 1993 and started at the National Meteorological Center in Camp Spring, MD.  He has served as the Science and Operations Officer at the Weather Forecast Office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota since 1998.  While with the National Weather Service, he trained operational meteorologists on winter and summer weather forecasting as well as new technologies such as Dual-Polarization radar. Phil also did research in banded snowfall, and precipitation organization with inverted troughs.  More recently, he has worked on incorporating probabilistic information into information sent to NWS partners for decision making.
