Profile

Jeff Hamilton

Jeff developed a love for meteorology at an early age and was fortunate enough to live in different areas of the country with extreme weather growing up. Settling in Colorado just before high school, it was the perfect setting for someone enamored by weather. While attending Creighton University, Jeff had the opportunity to intern at the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) at Offutt Air Force Base. There, he found a love for software engineering and designing applications that better helped understand atmospheric processes. He was fortunate to have a job offered to him after graduation and the end of the internship, and began his career as a numerical modeler in the 16th Weather Squadron. While he enjoyed the work and his colleagues at AFWA, coming home to Colorado was always in the back of his mind and he had the opportunity to apply to the Verification and Assimilation Branch in GSL/AVID in 2014. His work now perfectly blends his dual passions to improve meteorological understanding and preparedness and harnessing technology to enable scientific inquiry and numerical model development. Outside of the office, he is pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science and enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids in the mountains.
