Profile

Cole serves as a social science researcher in the Social & Behavioral Science Branch at NOAA’s Global Systems Lab in Boulder, CO. He has loved weather for as long as he can remember, and his childhood dream was to be a broadcast meteorologist. Growing up in Texas, he had a wide variety of weather to experience from severe weather, to hurricanes, to drought, and even the occasional winter storm. Cole got to accomplish his childhood dream while working on his bachelor’s degree. He worked in broadcast media in both San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. He then entered the research field by completing a M.S. and Ph.D. with concentrations in meteorology and communication. During his doctoral studies, he came to work for GSL as a Pathways intern and then became a full-time scientist with the lab after graduating. When Cole is not researching the communication of weather information, he loves spending time with his family, exploring Colorado, and watching Mississippi State baseball and football.
