Julia Simonson is a Research Scientist with the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder. She joined CIRES in 2022 as a postdoctoral associate in the Assimilation, Verification, and Innovation Division of NOAA’s Global Systems Laboratory (GSL). Since 2024 she has been working within the Earth Prediction Advancement Division at GSL and the Developmental Testbed Center (DTC). Her research focuses on boundary layer diurnal evolution and land-atmosphere interactions, and the representation of these processes within numerical weather prediction models.
