
Sudheer Bhimireddy joined GSL as a Research Scientist with the CIRES at CU Boulder in the Fall of 2023. Prior to joining GSL, Sudheer worked as a Postdoctoral researcher with the Climate and Atmospheric Sciences group at the Illinois State Water Survey located at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2020-2023. Sudheer is interested in using the numerical weather prediction models such as Unified Forecast System (UFS) and Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) at high spatial resolutions in order to test and improve the model parameterizations. For his doctoral thesis, Sudheer modified the WRF model framework to simulate user given buoyant emissions from large area sources mimicking wildfire emissions. He has hands-on experience with instrumentation platforms such as Doppler LiDAR, 3D Sonic anemometers, air quality sensors, Schlieren and thermal imaging sensors.
